The Children's Schoolhouse

Enrichment

Enrich - To supply with a abundance of anything desirable; as in to enrich the mind with knowledge or useful observations. The Children's Schoolhouse Enrichment program is designed to broaden the scope of our preschool. It attempts to introduce our Pre-Kindergarten children to the greater community, as well as to enrich the schoolhouse environment for all those attending field trips and in-school special events.

For the Pre-K children, the goal is to explore in detail, and with the five senses, many aspects of life, society, nature, and work. By way of example, you can read a book about a ship, but if you have no physical experience of what a ship is, our understanding will be limited. The Enrichment program strives to provide that physical experience. There are two types of Enrichment activities. The simplest are in-school visits from community members and parents who are experts in their fields.

All schoolhouse students benefit from these experiences. Second, are the Enrichment Field Trips, which are for the most part attended by the older students only. These away trips are optional. There are two all school field trips for the entire schoolhouse. Notifications for field trips are distributed via mailbox. Some examples of Enrichment Fieldtrips are:

  • Lowe's
  • Raptor Center
  • Patterson Farms (pumpkin and strawberry picking)
  • Lazy 5 Ranch
  • Children's Theater
  • Discovery Place
  • Wing Haven
