Public Relations Team

PR Coordinator

Designated as a Board Member and is therefore required to attend monthly Board meetings. Promotes the Schoolhouse and all of its events to the community. Collaborates with teams— particularly Admissions, Fundraising, Community Liaison, and Summer Camp. Writes and distributes news releases to the media, creates and distribute fliers, and arranges other advertising as needed. The Public Relations Coordinator works as an unofficial member of the Fundraising Team and should plan to attend all meetings. Fosters a relationship with the local media and periodically submits article ideas with an eye toward increasing awareness of the Schoolhouse, its mission, philosophy and focus on community service learning. Also provides administrative support and assistance to the Admissions Chair and Summer Camp coordinator as needed. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, designing and maintaining handouts for preadmission tours for the Morning and TK programs, maintaining a clipping file, a list of media, advertising contacts, and an annual record of all public relations materials produced by the Schoolhouse. Maintains alumni records and fosters alumni relations with events such as Alumni Days(s).

 

Community Liaison

Designated as a Board Member and is therefore required to attend monthly Board meetings. The Community Liaison supports the focus of CSH, helping those in need in our community, but also ways in which parents and students can enrich the community in general. Spearheads efforts to show support of the community at large by guiding CSH participation in 5-7 charitable activities, in addition to Christmas in Davidson. Reports on community events of interest to CSH families via the newsletter. Assists Admissions Chair in recruitment of minority and economically in need families for possible enrollment at the Schoolhouse in support of CSH commitment to this. Supports Enrichment Chair in coordinating in-school enrichment events, specifically with regard to special guests from the community. Assumes jobs related to assistant if not filled or coordinates volunteer.

 

Technology Coordinator

Responsible for implementing the ongoing development of the Schoolhouse’s website. In collaboration with the VP/ Secretary, and input from classroom teacher, Board and Cooperative members, the Technology Coordinator is responsible for performing day-to-day site maintenance on the website, setting up a content management system, creating an updated interface and functionalities for Schoolhouse families that make it more inviting to use and increases efficiency. Responsible for performing quality-control for website use and planning/ researching ways to enhance website capabilities in the future. Other responsibilities include uploading calendars, contact information, newsletters, classroom news, and other pertinent information to Schoolhouse families in a timely manner. The role of the Technology Coordinator will encompass 75 volunteer hours and be revisited in March 2010 for reevaluation of need.

 

Social Director

Works with the Admissions Team to shepherd new families to Morning program, coordinates provision of meals or other assistance to families with births, deaths, health issues, etc. Coordinates monthly events including, but not limited to: parent socials, book groups, holiday treat exchange, parent workshops in conjunction with Classroom Support Chair, and playground dates. Participates in new family orientation activities and events with Admissions, President, and Teachers. Compiles photo roster. Works on the end-of-year photo compilation with the teachers. Coordinates End-of-the-Year Picnic and Summer Social in July.
