Classroom Team B

Classrrom Support Chairperson

Must be a returning school family. Designated as a Board Member and is therefore required to attend monthly Board meetings. Responsible for addressing parent concerns and communicating those concerns to the teachers and (when necessary) the Board with the goal of maintaining open communication and achieving resolutions that are beneficial to all involved. Acts as the liaison between teacher, parent and board concerns. Works with the teachers to establish and monitor teacher goals, as well as, review all job descriptions to establish a team working environment. Also, coordinates classroom events on the school calendar and communicate the events via the newsletter and/or special handouts. Chairs monthly classroom support meetings with teachers and Enrichment Chair as needed. Responsible for teacher contracts; recruiting/interviewing new hires as head of the Hiring Committee; monitoring staff attendance and teacher evaluations with President or any appointed subcommittee. CSC will ensure that the PV Coordinator or CSC covers for Lead Teacher during Lead Teacher’s scheduled planning day. Create/implement teacher evaluations with President and any appointed subcommittee. Conducts annual parent survey in January. Works closely with Parent Volunteer Coordinator to train and monitor Parent Volunteers. Is responsible for coordinating fall Curriculum Night and potential parent education speakers throughout the year. Coordinates and supports all efforts of Classroom Team B. Is required to assist in the classroom once a month (nine (9) times) per year.

 

Classroom Aides

(Approx. 3 team members)

Works with the Classroom Support Chair and under the direction of the teachers. They shall delegate among themselves responsibility for the following: attendance at planning sessions at teachers’ request; supporting the teachers and curriculum by collecting, purchasing, creating, preparing, sewing, repairing, maintaining and setting up materials for (but not limited to) the following areas of the curriculum: art exploration, science, literacy, math, dramatic play (imagination station), construction, (The teaching staff may request that set-up be done on Fridays and/or workdays). Coordination and implementation of special tasks may include the needs of the Transitional Kindergarten class. Teachers may request help in general classroom maintenance, organization and set-up for example outside bulletin board and care of pets. Other responsibilities may be delegated by the teaching staff as they arise.

 

Snack/Party Coordinator

May be asked to pick up some of the Social Director responsibilities for 2009-2010 school year. Schedules parents to provide healthy snacks on a weekly basis. This is done in the summer and given to the Admissions Chair and Vice-President/ Secretary for inclusion on the school calendar. Monitors and purchases snack supplies (plates, cups, napkins, etc.) Maintains kitchen weekly by washing towels, throwing out old food and general keeping kitchen neat and organized. Deep cleans the kitchen monthly. Works with teachers to plan and execute all aspects of any special events, including: Thanksgiving Feast, Father’s Day Breakfast (around St. Patrick’s Day), Spring Art Show, Mother’s Day/May Day, and Field Day. Assists in classroom as PV once a month (nine (9) times) per year.

 

Enrichment Program Coordinator

Coordinates with teachers both in-school enrichment programs and out-of-school field trips for entire student body, monthly fieldtrips for “seniors” and Transitional Kindergarten. Schedules and attends programs and field trips and arranges transportation. Supports Community Liaison in coordinating in-school enrichment events, specifically with regard to special guests from the community. Distributes information and collects permission slips in monthly folders or at least two weeks in advance. Responsible for planning trips within the allotted budget and collecting fees for parents/siblings as required. May work with Account Manager to add these to the monthly invoice. Reports planned activities to parents via the newsletter. Provides safety and emergency information for travel. Should be available for monthly planning meeting with classroom support and teachers. As requested by teachers, assists with the solicitation and scheduling of parents for in-school projects, visits, and events, with an effort to tap into the hidden talents/interests of the parents as a means of enriching and supporting the curriculum, and to involve each family in the classroom as least once during the year.
