Arguably one of the most important jobs at the Schoolhouse. The main responsibility of the Parent Volunteer is to provide a safe, engaging, and nurturing daily experience for the Schoolhouse children. The PV assists in the classroom approximately 29 times per year. Must be able to assist from 8:40 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Volunteers become integral to the flow of the Schoolhouse day by completing duties such as helping with the carpool, set-up, helping children in morning routine and playground time, daily cleaning of kitchen and restrooms, and preparing of snack as outlined in the Parent Volunteer Handbook. Cleaning and other non-child tasks should not interfere with assisting with child needs and activities. Attends all orientation workshops in August and throughout the year as needed. Duration of the commitment is for the entire academic year. One or two PV's may be designated as rotating PV's who do not have a set day assignment, but rotate to different days to give PV's days off. A separate training notebook is available for parent volunteers. The orientation workshop is required before parents may volunteer in the classroom. PV's may volunteer to regularly lead a small group or assist in circle time.
